Daniel K. Jones, Psy.D. grew up in rural Illinois. During high school, he began training in active listening and working with peers to listen to their problems. He also worked with children from diverse backgrounds at a summer church camp during high school and college. After high school, Dr. Jones attended Greenville College (now Greenville University) in Greenville, IL . At Greenville College, he obtained a B.A. in Psychology in May 1998. During his time at Greenville, Dr. Jones worked under the supervision of a marriage and family therapist and an art/play therapist to gain experience with conceptualizing cases, leading groups, and with general patient care.
In the fall of 1998, Dr. Jones started graduate school at Forest Institute of Professional Psychology in Springfield, MO. There he obtained an M.A. in Psychology in 2000 and a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in 2002. During graduate school, Dr. Jones furthered his training by working with patients in a community clinic; a church based clinic; and a residential treatment center for intellectually disabled, adolescent, boys with severe behavioral problems. While at Forest Institute of Professional Psychology, Dr. Jones also obtained a Certificate in Psychology of Religion.
Dr. Jones worked in community mental health for about 10 years, where he quickly realized his enjoyment in serving the people of Western Kentucky. During this time he completed 2 part training in EMDR therapy and obtained further continuing education in the technique. After working for community mental health, Dr. Jones worked for Medical Psychology Consultants, providing care to many patients from at least 15 nursing facilities across Western Kentucky.
While working for Medical Psychology Consultants, Dr. Jones opened the Wellness Place. Since the start of the Wellness Place, Dr. Jones stopped working at Medical Psychology Consultants and has expanded his work to full time with the Wellness Place.
Dr. Jones and his family enjoy camping, spending time on the water, and traveling to see the various parts of the United States.
