The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission.
- Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, neglect, and/or dependency, for which we are required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
- If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, we must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
- If a client intends to harm himself or herself, we will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, we will take further measures without their permission that are provided to me by law in order to ensure their safety.
- Court Order - According to Kentucky Law when ordered by the court to release information, a psychotherapist must release the required information. Unless otherwise directed with a written release by the patient, we will first claim client priviledge to make every attempt to not disclose information to a court or other entity. we also make attempts, when possible, to contact you prior to release of information to a court.
